| Max is a Black Lab/Golden retriever mix. We tend to say he is mixed with horse. He currently weighs about 95 lbs. He was about 45 lbs when we got him. He was young, energetic, and loved to chew, and chew. He chewed the downspouts off the house - twice. He chewed through the wiring to the A/C. He chewed the tires off both the garden tractor and the roto-tiller. I lost count how many hoses went to the big garden center in the sky. But, he grew up, and out of chewing. He still owns our 1 acre back yard. He is one good egg. Very tolerant, always happy, only barks when it is important, and he gets along with, and tolerates, all our other critters. He has had two "run-ins with skunks. The first one was a learning experience - for us. The second time, we didn't bring him in the house to his crate (To protect him), and we did not give him a bath in tomato soup (Doesn't work, but he enjoyed it). BY the second time we had real skunk odor remover, and he spent the night outside in the yard. He also got into it with a Racoon. Max won, the Racoon didn't, and neither did his dad (me), who got two cracked ribs while "rescuing" him. |
